JD Classics is pleased to announce its sponsorship of this year’s Tour Auto Optic 2000. One of the finest historic rallies in the world, Tour Auto will see more than 230 iconic classic cars wind their way from the historic streets of Paris to sun-soaked coastal roads of Nice over the course of five days.

As well as its status as a key sponsor of the event, the JD Classics team will also be a very visible presence at Tour Auto, campaigning their two-time RAC TT Celebration-winning Jaguar E-Type Lightweight. Having been meticulously prepared at JD Classics’ 155,000 sq/ft facility in Maldon, Essex, by a team of 60 engineers and craftsmen, the E-Type is in perfect form for the 2000km (1242-mile) Tour Auto route.

Over the course of the five days, Tour Auto will take in four different racing circuits throughout France, including Bresse and Paul Ricard, for a number of competition and regularity challenges. The JD Classics E-Type Lightweight is in the ‘Competition’ class, aiming to set the fastest times on the closed roads and circuits throughout the route.

Competing alongside the JD Classics entry in the ‘Competition’ category are a number of other motorsport icons, including Ferrari Daytonas, Porsche 911s, Shelby Cobras and Ford GT40s.

JD Classics Founder, Derek Hood, said: “The entire JD Classics team is extremely proud to be a sponsor of Tour Auto this year; the route, the standard of cars and the organisation are all of the highest standard. It also allows us to show off what JD Classics is best at –  meticulous attention to detail in preparing cars for ultimate reliability and driveability. We’ve been working on the E-Type Lightweight for the past three months, and I can’t wait to see it finally tackling Tour Auto’s beautiful roads and circuits.”
