He hadn’t even finished beaming after success with his JD Classics’ complete chassis-off restored Jaguar XK150S 3.8 litre Roadster at the Jaguar Drivers' Club international weekend, Stanford Hall, Lutterworth, UK. Even so, our customer accepted the invitation to take his award-winning classic to the atmospheric and dreamily beautiful Grade I listed Littlecote House in Berkshire, UK the following weekend, where the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club (JEC) held their 23rd National Southern Day.
JEC’s theme this year celebrated the 50th anniversary of the XK150, the MkI 3.4 litre saloon and the MkVIII. Adding to the unique atmosphere of an historic house where Henry VII wooed Jane Seymour, some Jaguar enthusiasts even attended in 1950’s costume.
But the heady mood of the event soon went into overdrive once over 30 true concours cars went on display – from SS100s to E Type Jaguars – in competition to win Car of the Show. Taking in the spectacular setting combined with the quality of the cars on show, it was difficult to imagine a more uplifting experience.
But then, our customer didn’t have to use his imagination, as his JD Classics’ restored XK150S won!
Considering this was our customer’s second concours win in nine days, JEC Chairman, Gordon Wright, asked if the prize-winning XK could represent the JEC at the celebrated Meguiar's GB National Concours (held at the Birmingham NEC, UK in November 2007). However, on speaking to JD Classics’ Sales Director, he made it clear that the tribute came with a sobering injunction:
“It’s a privilege and an honour to represent the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club at this prestigious event [in Birmingham]. So please don’t let us down!”
We’ll be determined not to and will keep you posted of JD Classics’ latest attempt to present concours-winning classics that meet if not surpass exacting standards.

We've just discovered [13th October 07] that another of our customers showed his E Type series 1, 3.8 fixed head coupé at Littlecote, too – and won first prize in the E Type class! He'd bought his classic sixties' icon from us over two years ago and we've been maintaining it for him ever since. But we had no idea he was showing, too.
